FAQs about therapy for stress management

There’s no one-size-fits-all magic cure for stress, but I find that a blend of techniques works best for my clients. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and process underlying beliefs that may be keeping you stuck. I also weave in contemplative practices, such as mindfulness to treat your stress in a holistic way. This approach gives you practical tools while addressing deeper patterns that contribute to chronic stress.

Trust your intuition—if you’re feeling overwhelmed or just have the inkling that something is off, reach out for support. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counseling.
I especially encourage folks to reach out if they resonate with any of the following:
Stress is impacting my sleep, work performance, or relationships.
I often worry about the future.
I feel stuck and don’t know how to make changes to help me feel better.
My perfectionism makes me procrastinate and either feel rushed or miss deadlines.
I have trouble setting boundaries and often find myself taking on too much.
My coping mechanisms, like working a lot, are causing more stress than comfort.
I’m really hard on myself and find myself avoiding situations because I’m worried about being judged.
If any of these sounds like you, I invite you to reach out for help.

We'll start by understanding your specific stress triggers and goals. Early sessions focus on building awareness of your thought patterns and developing immediate coping tools. As we progress, we'll address deeper beliefs and past experiences that contribute to your stress. I use a client-centered approach, meaning we'll focus on what's most pressing for you each session while maintaining an overall direction toward your goals.

My approach may be a good fit if you're drawn to the idea of combining practical psychology with mindfulness and contemplative practices. Having walked my own path with therapy, I understand what it feels like to be stuck in unhelpful patterns—and how to shift them.
If you're interested in both understanding your thought patterns and learning meditation-based tools to create real change, my unique background blending Western psychology with Buddhist philosophy might resonate with you.

The first step is scheduling a free consultation call where we can discuss your concerns and see if we're a good fit. During this call, I'll answer any questions about my approach and we can talk about what you're hoping to achieve in therapy. If we decide to work together, we'll schedule your first full session.
