5 Boulder EMDR Therapists Ready for Hire
EMDR is a cutting-edge therapy approach that taps into the brain’s natural ability to reprocess traumatic memories and heal.
While all EMDR therapists must complete rigorous training, different clinicians may specialize in different areas and blend EMDR with other techniques.
Finding the right EMDR therapist for your unique situation can make all the difference in your healing process.
Here, I share a bit more about my approach and offer my recommendations for other local EMDR therapists in case my practice isn’t the right fit.

Why trust me?
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly a decade of experience. I’m trained in EMDR along with other evidence-backed methods like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). My education at local Naropa University has given me a unique, integrative approach that blends Western psychology with Buddhist philosophy and other complementary practices.
How I selected
Besides telling you about my background and practice, I’ve chosen to highlight other local EMDR therapists so you can find the best fit possible. These clinicians are also trained in EMDR and have diverse specialty areas, integrate other treatment modalities, and bring other unique characteristics to this work. The goal is to help you find an EMDR specialist you really resonate with.

FAQs about EMDR therapy
-
EMDR can be particularly helpful if you're struggling with past traumatic events, negative beliefs about yourself, anxiety, depression, or intrusive thoughts that feel "stuck." If traditional talk therapy hasn't fully addressed these issues, or if you notice patterns of self-doubt and self-criticism affecting your daily life, EMDR might be a good fit.
-
EMDR may not be a match for people currently experiencing severe dissociation, active psychosis, or significant substance use issues. It's also not recommended during times when life is feeling pretty unstable. During our initial consultation, we'll carefully assess whether EMDR could be a good fit for you right now.
-
While EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that many insurance plans cover, I currently operate as an out-of-network provider. This means you'll pay directly for sessions and can submit receipts to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I recommend checking with your insurance about out-of-network mental health benefits and reimbursement rates.
-
EMDR follows a structured eight-phase approach, beginning with preparation and stabilization. We'll work together to identify target memories or beliefs, then use bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements) to help your brain process these experiences. Sessions combine this specialized technique with other practices, like mindfulness, to help you see real results.
-
My approach combines EMDR with mindfulness and other modalities like DBT and CBT. If you value a non-judgmental environment where we focus on your strengths and individual needs rather than labels, we might work well together. I particularly enjoy helping people challenge negative beliefs and develop practical skills for managing anxiety and depression.
